immortality through the altered perception of identity v1 (~2/01/13)

upon hatching

a Mayfly

dries its wings in the sun

and then using this bright light

spirals upwards towards it

deeper into the sky

feasting on dust and fog

its flight lasts one day

at the peak of its path

it mates and promptly gives up on life

the females die too and both bodies tumble towards the ground

falling through the night

their paper bodies

the hatchlings one cell mature

drop to a layer of leaves

on this impact

they escape

crawl out of their casing

and dry their wings in the sun
